What a confusing place. Had the all you can eat lunch for 13.95, which sounds great but is only good because it is limited to certain rolls. The good news is that most of the rolls are actually good, had spicy tuna, california, avocado, monkey roll, and spider roll. The place could seriously use a decorator so dont expect to be blown away by the ambiance but the food is decent enough to get four stars.

By far the best sushi in Albuquerque! The food is delicious and the owner is an awesome host. Been to several different sushi places in town and Ahh's sushi is the best. My favorites are the Santa Fe roll, Shrimp Caterpillar, and the Red Devil roll! Other places cannot compare to the quality of sushi and the quality of the people at Ahh's!

Absolutely filthy cooking / prep area! Fish was being handled by a young man who looked like a gang-banger! He touched his face and hair and then had the audacity to touch raw fish with bare hands! I nearly vomited! I could not stay! I CALMLY walked out after leaving $2.00 on the table for a bad lunch experience! Two dollars was more than the nasty sushi was worth! I was worried the so-called "cook" was going to follow me outside and confront me! Fortunately, my van was parked immediately outside and I hustled to get inside where my trusty SMITH& WESSON 686 .357 MAGNUM wait for me! Yes, it is a bit extreme, but the punk looked like he was itching for a fight and I am too old now to duke it out; I WOULD have defended myself as necessary! The OWNER should fire the entire staff and "Mister "AHH" should come back and TRAIN the NEW STAFF! This was once a "go to place"; NOW it is more along the lines of a "RUN FROM" place or better yet, a "DRIVE BY REALLY FAST" place. Scary and dirty! What can I say? The Health Department SHOULD visit this weekly or more often! They should bring along "ICE" to check the employees AND the RR POLICE to check for warrants! I have NO doubt they could score really big with the low-life's who were working. *** THIS IS AN UPDATE TO THE ABOVE POST FROM MY VISIT ON JUNE 29, 2015. I TRIED ANOTHER VISIT TODAY - AUGUST 10, 2015 TO SEE IF THE PRIOR WAS A FLUKE. Today's visit was better, yet the "aromas in the air" were concerning. They were not the stench of my June visit, but today I felt like they might be COVERING UP the "smells" with a heavily scented "disinfectant"! The STAFF did appear CLEAN and the punk who was touching himself and then the food was NOT present. I CHECKED closely and the TEMPERATURE of the food was displayed on digital thermometers and the FISH was properly stored! The "All You Can Shovel In" lunch was acceptable. Selection was as usual limited and the more expensive offerings were in SMALL BATCHES. I was one of three patrons and we essentially GANGED UP on the "freshly prepared" sushi rolls so they immediately made FRESH rolls! All three of us ate to our harts content and I can say "enjoyed lunch"! NOW the test of time ........ waiting to see if nausea and the other indications something was BAD begins. IF I do no not get sick I can HONESTLY SAY I had a tasty lunch! Time will tell! I have 911 on speed dial and my doctors number just one button away! Wish me well! I may have to save a few extra pennies for a better TIP if I don't croak! :)

There needs to be a no star rating. Went there on my lunch break. There was another table with a guy and his daughter. Our waitress flirted with him the entire time and when it came to us she was rude and made it sound like she was going to charge us an arm and a leg if we were to order the endless sushi rolls and didn't finish them. The restaurant was filthy and run down.

I stopped in and had a chicken teriyaki lunch. I was the only customer there during a Saturday mid-afternoon. The decor was, as others note, pretty dark & dim. The meal started with a salad that was an Italian mix of greens including radicchio dressed with a ginger dressing. The choice of greens had me a bit confused at the East/West combination in the dish. While the dressing had what looked like a lot of shredded ginger in it, the flavor was pretty neutral. Not unpleasant, but not particularly noteworty either. The teriyaki chicken was pleasantly different from the usual typically heavily drenched with commercial thickened teriyaki sauce found at teriyaki joints across the country. This was chicken thigh meat prepared more like yakitori chicken as found at street stalls in Tokyo. That is, meat that was marinated prior to grilling bringing the flavor with it to the heat, versus the usual fried/saute'd meat that subsequently gets the flavor slathered onto it as a thick sauce. The chicken was easily the star of the meal. The teriyaki came with mixed steamed veggies that had a shot of garlic that kicked up the flavor nicely & kept them from being bland. I think the garlic was garlic powder rather than fresh garlic, for which they get a demerit. Another demerit would be the rice that came with the meat & veggies. It was, I believe, long grain rice which is IMHO inappropriate in any Japanese, even faux Japanese, cuisine. My scoop of rice came with some of the dry starchy crust that forms on the bottom or sides of a rice cooker after the rice has sat in the cooker for a long time. So the rice was not only the wrong type, it was old too. My ice tea was, I suspect, Lipton's instant ice tea. But it had an unusual taste to it. My guess is that it was made with Rio Rancho city tap water, which has in my experience on occasion borne a sulphurous odor. Also, the tea was rather weak on flavor. The waiter was attentive, prompt with his service, and friendly. The meal was pretty inexpensive for the quantity of food, being in the $7.50 range including tax.

Two stars for the friendliness of the staff. They really tried to connect with their customers. This place is a dive. They do have all u can eat sushi for lunch (select rolls) for about $15.00. They were out of the soft shell crab roll- that was disappointing. You can order a half or full roll. The rolls were more rice than sushi. The fried rolls were a different type of tempura. Just filler food but not good flavor. Def wouldn't recommend or return.

Amazing Sushi! Better than sushi I have had in Seattle. In fact the fish is from Seattle Fish and is always super fresh within two days. The atmosphere is super comfortable and Ahh the owner makes you feel welcome. Try the pizza roll, I know sounds crazy but it's delicious. The pink roll is another favorite of mine. I have ordered just about everything on the menu it's all great!

My wife and I are Sushi enthusiasts. We saw this new place had opened up and decided to check it out. Huge mistake! Upon entering the "establishment" we were immediately confronted with a less than clean atmosphere. There was dust everywhere. As we rounded the corner to find a table, we were disappointed that there was no bar seating. Any reputable Sushi establishment will have a sushi bar. Not these guys. As we sat down, you couldn't help but notice how unprofessional the place was. One employee was sitting in the dining area watching TV. Another was at a table playing on his laptop visiting with who I assume was his girlfriend. Another was sitting in a chair at a diners table leaning his chair back talking to the guests there and lastly was the waitress who couldn't answer a simple question about how their food stacks up to other places in town. By the way, in front of the TV one employee was watching sat a Playstation 3. I wondered if this was a restaurant or a teen hangout. As I always do, and I'm glad I did, I look over at the kitchen area. What did I find but a massive uncut fish laying on the counter. Who knows how long it had been there because all the staff was sitting in the dining area. It was about 7 minutes after we walked in that the kid leaning his chair back talking to guests finally got up to handle the fish. This is not good! This lack of care and attention to fish products is dangerous and can kill people. It must stay cool which is why fish markets always leave fish on ice. After seeing this, we determined that we would not dine at this establishment. With behavior like what we saw, I give it 6 months before the kids working there are out of a job because the places gets closed by the health department or due to lack of business. Take heed, folks! It's fish. Don't put yourself at risk by dining here. Come Monday, I'm making a call to the health department. Since you have to give it a rating, they get 1 star but they do not deserve even that.

Before the owner opened his 2nd location this place used to be really good! Now its just ok. Currently a younger guy now runs the place. He is not as good as the original chef but gets the job done. Small things that bother me about this location: They open late sometimes, they are understaffed. The website could be updated currently its all over the place, and doesn't explain their offerings Ie all you can eat. ahhsushi.net I have no idea from one day to the next what is going on with this place. A few times we have gone and seen a sign that says opening late/closed for holiday/this that etc.. I wish the website would reflect these things, its not that hard. Food is decent for what you pay. If you are lucky enough to make it here when they are open on time and not full , you will have a good dining experience. In the meantime I would not recommend it. The 2nd location is much better. * I also wish they would do all you can eat on the weekends!
